Description

Duties & responsibilities

  • Lead a technician team to maximize area productivity and achieve customer delivery goals
  • Quickly identify upcoming challenges and develop strategies to mitigate
  • Coordinate with supporting functions like engineering, maintenance, quality & materials to ensure downtime is minimized in each area
  • Interview and recruit new technicians for the area
  • Develop and communicate business expectations to the technician team
  • Assist in management of indirect spending to meet budgetary goals
  • Partner with human resources to develop and adjust policies
  • Ensure all health and safety guidelines are followed and improvements are consistently implemented
  • Assist technician teams and respective Area Leads with scheduling concerns to maximize efficiency and throughput
  • Develop and implement strategies to keep employees motivated and dedicated
  • Develop and initiate new processes to reduce downtime and improve efficiency on the line
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the team
  • Lead and encourage staff to operate at a high level of effectiveness

Skills & Qualifications

  • 5+ years of production management experience in a machining environment
  • Bachelor's degree in operations management or engineering preferred
  • Demonstrated experience leading a large, multishift manufacturing workforce
  • Able to demonstrate strong problemsolving skills
  • Expert in Microsoft Office tools; Experience with Oracle ERP an asset
  • Six Sigma and LEAN manufacturing certification is an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Collaborative leader with strong customer focus
  • Able to bring teams together to meet common goals and improve morale
  • Able to build crossfunctional relationships to drive success
