Job Overview:


The Financial Controller will be responsible in overseeing the daily accounting activities and transactions for the monthly closing process to maintain the integrity and reliability in preparing monthly financial statements.

This position reports directly to C.E.O. and responsible in the formulation of internal controls and policies to comply with guidelines and established best practices.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Financial Planning and Analysis_

  • Develop and manage budgets for restaurant operations.
  • Provide financial insights to support menu pricing and cost control measures.

Budgeting and Forecasting_

  • Lead the budgeting process, considering sales forecasts and operational requirements.
  • Monitor actual financial performance against budgets.

Financial Reporting_

  • Preparation and presenting of monthly financial reports for management review.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies between various financial reports.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards and restaurant financial regulations.

Cost Control_

  • Monitor and control operating costs, including food and beverage costs.
  • Implement strategies to optimize cost efficiency without compromising quality.

Cash Flow Management_

  • Manage daily cash flow and banking transactions.
  • Optimize cash handling procedures and ensure financial liquidity.

Financial Compliance_

  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard financial assets.

Vendor Management_

  • Negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers.
  • Ensure costeffective purchasing and adherence to budget constraints.

General Accounting_

  • Manage the full accounting cycle including receivables, payables, expenses, operating budgets,
month-end reporting packages.

  • Manage yearend closing processes and manage balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Ensure HST/GST filings are done on time and accurately.

Management of Finance Department and Process Improvement_

  • Provide leadership, training and development to accounting staff.
  • Lead team initiatives to implement continuous process improvements and automation within finance
department and other departments.

  • Evaluate potential steps to reduce inefficiencies, chances of errors, and delays.
  • Improve on existing and create worksheets and dashboards that assist with analysis and decision
- making.

  • Undertake special projects from time to time as directed by the CEO and Senior Leadership Team.

Qualifications and Minimum Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • Chartered Professional Accountant designation is preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Finance Manager/Controller.
  • 7+ years of experience in full cycle accounting, financial reconciliation, closing activities, financial
reporting and analysis.

  • Knowledge of restaurant financial management principles.
  • Familiarity with pointofsale systems and restaurantspecific financial software.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fastpaced and dynamic environment.

Work Location and Work Schedule:


  • Onsite (Office in North York Restaurant location).
  • 40 hours/week (5 days/week).

Salary Range:

- $80,000 to $100,000 annually.

$80,000.00-$100,000.00 per year


Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift

Supplemental pay types:

  • Commission pay
