Here's how a Crane Supervisor for our Resources office contributes to our team:


Responsibilities:


  • Liaises with PCL districts, engineering, and manufacturers on the erection, dismantling, and climbing of PCLowned or outside rental tower cranes and hoists to ensure manufacturer specifications, engineered drawings, and HSE guidelines and policies are followed
  • Creates and maintains inspection sheets for PCLowned tower cranes and instructs shop technicians on proper inspection and repair requirements
  • Receives and completes signoff for job acceptance checklists after the crane has been erected and all the limits are set and tested on all PCL owned cranes.
  • Leads and follows lift plans pertaining to tower crane and material hoist erections and dismantles and ensures the equipment meets PCL requirements and if fit for use
  • Ensures erection, climbing, and dismantle crew is using industry accepted practices for crane/hoist handling and working within their capabilities along with following manufacturer specifications
  • Attends and gives input at project meetings regarding tower crane and hoist activities
  • Supervises, directs, coaches, trains, and mentors hourly workforce including indirect reports
  • Effectively communicates with PCL workforces and subcontractors to ensure that performance, productivity, quality, and HSE requirements are met
  • Collaborates with various stakeholders on and off site to proactively identify, manage, and resolve potential issues or conflicts

Qualifications:


  • Minimum 5 years' experience in the crane and hoist industry with an electrical, mechanic, crane operator or iron worker certificate preferred
  • Able to access and work at heights (200plus feet)
  • Proven experience supervising crane lifts
  • Strong understanding of tower crane and personnel hoist operation, function, configurations, and service requirements
  • Excellent interpersonal skills:
  • Able to effectively communicate with stakeholders at various levels
  • Supervise and lead crews regarding tower and crane hoist activities
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Organizational skills, with an ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License and passport to travel internationally
  • Travel: Extensive travel is required, at times on short notice and for extended periods (multiple weeks)
