What can I expect to do in this role?: In this role, you will:

  • Maintain knowledge of government policies and procedures for French language translations.
  • Act as the central point of contact for receiving and monitoring Ministry of Community and Social Services' translation requests.
  • Advise ministry clients on project details, including schedules, costs, and scope, while exploring options to meet their needs.
  • Evaluate translation requests and assign projects to external vendors based on their suitability for the task.
  • Communicate with approved external translation service providers to ensure contract compliance, meeting expectations, deadlines, and quality standards.
  • Maintain and update the Ministry of Community and Social Services' French web content and reference materials, ensuring accuracy, functional links, consistent translation, and uptodate filing systems.

How do I qualify?:


Mandatory:


  • You must possess oral and written Frenchlanguage skills at the advanced plus level. Your proficiency level will be confirmed before hire.

Technical Knowledge:

You have:
- excellent knowledge of French Language Services, programs, and administrative practices to coordinate translation projects, and respond to client and vendor inquiries
- knowledge of the French Language Services Act and related policies and procedures


Organization and Coordinator Skills:

You have the ability to:

  • processes and coordinate translation requests/projects
- manage contracts and coordinate work requirements with external service providers
- process invoices
- establish and maintain filing systems


Customer Service and Interpersonal Skills:

You have the ability to:

  • develop relationships with internal clients and external service providers to ensure quality products are delivered to translation standards
- discuss translation services with ministry clients and negotiate timelines with clients and vendors, ensuring clients' requirements are understood and met.


Judgement and Decision-Making Skills:

You have the ability to:

  • select the best approach to accomplish objectives from a wide range of choices
- work independently and make work-related decisions affecting the coordination of translation services


Computer Skills:

- you have experience using computer software programs (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite) to produce reports, charts, table, and spreadsheets
- you have the ability to use an internal web intake system
