GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
This position includes providing one-on-one support, group facilitation, and case management.
The Addictions and Mental Health Worker reports to the Clinical Director on treatment planning, program implementation, crisis situations, case notes and client concerns.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Addictions and Mental Health Worker_
- Supports the multidisciplinary team in implementing treatment interventions, providing additional information gathered within the addiction and mental health scope.
- Uses a variety of skills from Solution Focused, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioural, Dialectical Behavioural and Mindfulness based approaches, as well as supportive listening.
- Provides individual support and group counselling to clients.
- Develops resource lists for clients, in their returning community, that are relevant and meaningful to their ongoing recovery.
- Collaborates with clinicians, holistic and integrative service providers in the development of the discharge plan.
- Maintains adherence to the programming delivered at Victoria Wellness.
- Contributes to and maintains the client comprehensive health record in a professional, accurate and timely manner according to regulatory requirements.
- Identifies risk and intervenes with crisis, conflict situations and emergency situations that may arise.
- Supports accompaniment of clients during outings and community appointments when needed.
- Other duties as they arise.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB
- Completion of University Degree or College Diploma in social work, counselling psychology, social service work, psychology, addictions and mental health counselling, personal support work or another healthrelated discipline or the equivalent work experience.
- Competency in using computers and software such as Microsoft, Excel, Publisher, Outlook, Adobe and others. As well as the ability to learn new software.
- Registration and/or certification with governing bodies that hold scope of practice accountable.
- Lived experience, either directly or indirectly an asset.
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written are essential.
- Demonstrated ability to establish rapport, while developing collaborative and equalized relationships with clients.
- Ability to take initiative to address challenges as they arise using a flexible, collaborative approach.
- Proven judgement and diplomacy skills.
- Must possess the ability to work collaboratively and in partnership within a team.

Schedules: 8 hour shifts; 12 hour shifts (overnights); day shifts; afternoon shifts; contracted hours
