Database Analyst, Institutional Planning:
Required Position:
Full-Time Term Appointment :
until June 30, 2024
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Director of Institutional Planning, the Database Analyst will be responsible for supporting the Institutional Planning office and staff in delivery of all services, functions and mandate related to its institutional data holdings including data creation, maintenance, verification and integrity.
This role will also provide innovative and effective methods to support the reporting and analysis requirements of the office for a variety of stakeholders (internal and external) providing accurate and timely information for university planning.
DATA HOLDINGS MAINTENANCE AND UPGRADES
- create, maintain, verify and update Institutional Planning office data holdings;
- will use their expertise to import, process, develop and export data in and out of various database management systems including but not limited to SQL Server, Excel, Access, MySQL, SPSS and Tableau;
- be skilled in VBA and macro programming to assist with the transposing and manipulation of the variety of data formats in use in the office;
- provide support for SQL Server development including programming/data preparation; and
- regular and timely internal datamart updates using SQL Server including but not limited to information holdings for admissions, courses/marks, administrative surveys (NSSE, OUGS, CGPSS, HYS), academic programs and graduates (degrees granted).
DATA HOLDINGS CREATION AND DEVELOPMENT
- offer ideas, troubleshoot and provide solutions related to data presentation, data analysis, data manipulation, SQL/Tableau programming;
- support the objectives of the IP office with respect to data needs either through available datasets or required development work;
- will use their expertise to create and design new data holdings; and
- support staff in the creation and design of new data holdings through expertise in database design, user and/or business needs requirements.
ANALYSIS
- utilize internal datamarts to provide desired reports as it relates to decision making and planning activities including ad‐hoc requests and internal office analysis;
- create and organize the data visualizations to provide IP stakeholders with effective and useful information in Tableau, Excel, Word or other communication methods to support their planning needs;
- prepare data and analyses to disseminate information reports as required to internal and external stakeholders;
- support the reporting requirements of the IP office to Executive Team and Leadership Team (Administrative and Academic) through timely communications;
- provide data reconciliation and calculations related to the FTOT, core operating grant, funding corridor, enrolment caps and allocations, enrolment projections and support for the Director in budget consultation and analysis;
- provide custom and regular information on admission, enrolment, engagement, retention data, survey analysis, and other information as needed to support recruitment and enrolment management;
