This is a combined position at Crescent Park Lodge (Fort Erie) and Valley Park Lodge (Niagara Falls).

Food Services & Nutrition Manager

Key Responsibilities

  • Develops, with the Dietitian and with input from residents an organized program of nutrition and hydration services to meet resident needs and provide safe acceptable nutritious meals.
  • Directs and manages the dietary service, develops and implements policies and procedures to provide direction for staff to ensure quality nutrition and hydration services and nutritional care.
  • Directs and supervises personnel in preparing and serving regular and special diets to residents.
  • Ensures that food is prepared in a sanitary manner.
  • Plans and directs the serving of diets to residents.
  • Manages personnel in dietary services, and supervising their orientation, on the job training, and work performance.
  • Maintains records and compiles reports covering technical and administrative operations.
  • Conducts or delegates quality improvement, risk management and health and safety activities to monitor, evaluate and improve quality of services.
  • Ensures that each resident is reviewed using MDS RAI and other nutritional tools as required, including upon admission.
  • In consultation with Dietitian, develops recipes and food production sheets.
  • Responsible for the departmental budget as well as procuring quality foods within food costs.
  • Complete documentation on residents' records, including admission assessment, nutritional profile, plan of care, interventions and outcomes as well as minimum quarterly progress notes.
  • Coordinating dietary requirements for functions in other departments including resident council, family council and special events
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Food Service Management Diploma from a recognized college or university.
  • Membership in CSNM or a Registered Dietitian.
  • Safe Food Handlers certificate.
  • Three experience as FSNM in Long-Term Care setting or institutional setting preferred.
  • Course in gerontology an asset.
  • Knowledge of large scale purchasing, food preparation and nutritional requirements of longterm care clients.
  • Proven effective leadership skills sufficient to manage programs and staf.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to interact with staff, residents, families, community professionals and various outside partners
  • Must possess organizational and planning skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Must possess good judgement, critical thinking, and decisionmaking skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
