Description
The Accounting Analyst coordinates the preparation of the cash flow forecasts, restricted fund compliance reporting, investment analysis and other reports for Senior Management and the Board of Governors.
The Accounting Analyst liaises with the staff and managers in Financial Services to establish business processes for statement preparation, provides leadership in forecasting of cash and fund reporting.
The Accounting Analyst research and recommends accounting treatment of new Public Sector Accounting (PSA) standards.What You'll be Doing
Creating and maintaining an archive of information coming from different sources throughout the college.
Maintaining performance metrics on all assigned Finance projects and day-to-day activities.
Preparing investigative reports on new PSA standards, CRA rules, MCU communication, etc.
Investigating system process issues affecting the reporting processes.
Researching and implementing new Public Sector Accounting (PSA) standards.
Performing other related duties as assigned.
About You
You have the skills and knowledge to work with an increasingly diverse student and staff population as well as a proven commitment to anti-oppression, equity, and inclusion.
You are an analytical thinker and problem solver with the aptitude for working with numbers and raw data and turning it into meaningful insights through tracking of metrics.
You enjoy balancing many different tasks, staying organized and like to develop processes or systems to keep things running smoothly.
You bring facilitation skills that allow you to create meaning presentations and reports for a variety of audiences across Sheridan.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in the financial analysis, financial statement preparation and reporting is required (equivalency to be considered)
Currently holds a CPA designation (i.e., CA, CGA or CMA) or an equivalent CPA designation from a reciprocal membership body or mutual recognition agreement
Oral and written communication skills
Knowledge of business structure (experience in Public Sector would be an asset)
Contract review skills
Ability to complete forecasts (i.e. cash, investment, etc.)
Ability to track different metrics
