The Consultant provides expertise in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient engagement initiatives as well as in identifying initiatives underway in the organization that align with the patient engagement framework for the organization.

The Patient & Resident Engagement Consultant will do this by:

providing leadership and expertise in the implementation of Patient/Resident and Family Centred Care (PFCC); assisting to identify and align of strategic priorities for the organization as it relates to patient engagement standards of practice; coordinating and managing the Patient and Resident Engagement program for Covenant Health, and creating a culture of patient and family-centred care.

The Consultant is responsible for the coordination of the:

Partnering program; assessing, measuring and continuously improving the program's performance, and; integration of evidence-based patient engagement strategies and tools as identified, and in alignment with, the Covenant Health strategic and operational plans.

The individual in this position acts as a resource for all of Covenant Health and may be required to lead, participate or act as a resource for organization-wide projects supporting engagement.

They work with program areas and teams to foster and build local capacity to enhance patient, resident and family engagement to create fully engaged service providers that are prepared to deliver excellent care.

The consultant will also collaborate with other organizations such as AHS Patient Engagement to support provincial engagement and experience initiatives.

Required Qualifications:


A Master's degree in a related discipline in clinical discipline, allied health or health-related discipline such as public health or health care administration is required; applicants with equivalent education and experience will be considered.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in health services delivery. Demonstrated success in working with stakeholders to improve patient and or resident engagement and outcomes. Demonstrated ability to drive and deliver on multiple, complex major initiatives and projects. Knowledge of current state approaches to successful patient and resident engagement to improve outcomes. Demonstrated success and passion for working with stakeholders to improve patient and resident engagement and outcomes. Facilitation and training/education experience and proficiency.

Strong clear communicator with ability to build positive collaborative relationships at all levels. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of stakeholders. Analytical, evaluation and research skills, including familiarity with healthcare quality metrics. Demonstrated ability to drive and deliver on multiple, complex projects to success. Ability to relate to diverse age, cultural and demographic backgrounds.

Ability to operate related equipment and excellent proficiency in the use of computer software such as Microsoft Word, SharePoint, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Must be able to work independently and manage ambiguity.


Preferred Qualifications:

A Project Management certificate or PMP equivalent is an asset.
