    Mechanical Engineer in Training- Toronto, ON

    Responsibilities:

    You will assist in all aspects of mechanical projects for our clients including:

  • Participate in client needs and project definition.
  • Contribute to all project phases and ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards, defined scope, timelines and budget.
  • Support the Design of
  • HVAC systems
  • Plumbing and piping systems
  • Cooling systems, Steam generation
  • Distribution systems & Compressed air system
  • Design of dust collection systems.
  • Preparation of engineering drawings and specifications in AutoCAD or Revit.
  • Evaluate and select equipment technologies and suppliers.
  • Maintain a reference set of codes, standards, and in-house best practices.
  • Review Clients Specifications.
  • Write technical reports and analysis to support design submissions.
  • Review shop drawings for compliance & participate in development of engineering standards.
  • Obtain proposals from and follow-up with suppliers and contractors.
  • Partner with cross functional project team members.
  • Visit and survey project sites for project related activities.
  • Support business development activities.
  • Key Requirements:

  • BS or MS degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience in building HVAC, plumbing and drainage, refrigeration, fire protection, steam and hot water system design.
  • Solid knowledge of mechanical codes and standards including ASHRAE and NFPA;
  • Excellent skills in technical support and troubleshooting.
  • Flexibility to travel.
  • Experience in consulting engineering in the pharmaceutical or food and beverage industries an asset.
  • Experience in process engineering (light industrial, food and beverage or pharmaceutical facilities) an asset.
  • Skills:

  • Strong technical skills.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong knowledge of local, Provincial and National regulations and standards relating to electrical installations.
  • Ability to timely identify and resolve issues.
  • Attention to details and accuracy.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Sense of organization, discipline, and task prioritization.
  • Excellent communication skills.
