    Bankwest's Technology Division develops and executes all technical change within the organisation ensuring the leverage of technology to deliver the Bankwest strategy. The Division works on a wide variety of technologies and projects with the support of a dedicated team in an Agile methodology. Our team is responsible for the world-leading application of technology and operations across every aspect of the bank – from product platforms for our customers, to essential tools within our business.

    As a Principal Engineer, you'll be responsible for leading our ambitious DevSecOps strategy, spearheading the adoption of cutting-edge DevSecOps practices and tools, and driving a cultural shift towards security-first development. You will provide core technology and domain expertise and lead the design of solutions for complex challenges within a business unit. You will be able to influence DevSecOps adoption and remove bottlenecks by leading and building the right pipeline for our engineers. Also, you'll have a strong risk mindset in ensuring that appropriate cyber security controls are implemented and play a significant mentoring role in providing technical assistance to the engineers in the team.

    We're interested in hearing from people who:

  • Have a thorough understanding of the DevSecOps tooling available in the market, and how this can be successfully leveraged and implemented at scale.
  • Identifies and executes technical direction and strategy for Bankwest Technology, with a focus on CI/CD and DevSecOps
  • Designs and implements solutions to complex problems, including onboarding and migrating to new tooling as well as removing obsolete systems and code
  • Provides expert consultancy across the enterprise, with a particular focus on DevOps and CI/CD tooling
  • Drives continuous improvement by owing business unit critical initiatives and technical solution end to end
  • Proactively collaborates with others to share knowledge and resolve issues
  • Encourages risk-taking and constructively challenges the status quo while influencing stakeholders and building diverse and inclusive teams
  • Skills:

    We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don't expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these will set you up for success in this team:

  • Expert knowledge and experience in CI/CD using DevSecOps best practices
  • Strong experience with Source control and Continuous Integration tools and systems such as Github, Github Actions, Synk, & Launch Darkly.
  • Experience and knowledge of Release and Deployment strategies, tools and systems
  • Understanding of the various types of testing (eg unit, integration, non functional) with an appreciation of why this is important
  • Proficient with modern languages such as Java, .NET, JavaScript, Python, or similar
  • Familiarity with cloud native infrastructure - AWS preferred
