The Department of Labour, Skills, and Immigration (LSI), specifically the division of Immigration and Population Growth (IPG), has partnered with organizations in the Nova Scotia construction industry to address labor shortages through provincial immigration programs and recruitment activities.

These shortages are hindering the growth rate of the construction sectors.

A Construction Immigration Coalition has been established with industry-based organizations in the residential and non-residential construction sectors, including:

  • Atlantic Home Building and Renovation Sector Council
  • Canadian Home Builders Association of Nova Scotia
  • Construction Association of Nova Scotia
  • Merit Contractors Association of Nova Scotia
  • Nova Scotia Construction Sector Council

About the Opportunity


The International Recruiter will act as the experienced professional working with each organization individually and as part of the coalition.

This role requires a high level of experience in recruitment or human resources, along with deep knowledge of screening, interviewing, and hiring processes.

The International Recruiter is passionate about discovering untapped talent, driving company growth, and assisting individuals in developing successful careers while engaging with and reporting to multiple industry stakeholders.


Objectives of this Role

  • Work closely with construction coalition leaders to understand the industry's needs and career opportunities.
  • Identify individual companies' hiring needs for each role.
  • Work with the Construction Immigration Coalition to establish, manage, and track measurable performance indicators over time.
  • Collaborate with Department of Labour, Skills, and Immigration teams to refine and implement innovative recruitment strategies and provide regular updates on progress and successes.

Responsibilities

  • Source opportunities from employers to share with international applicants.
  • Provide regular updates and seek industry guidance from the Construction Immigration Coalition.
  • Possess deep knowledge of the immigration process, especially the Nova Scotia Nominee Program and the Atlantic Immigration Program.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Must hold a valid Foreign Worker Recruiter Licence from the Labour Standards Division of the Department of Labour, Skills, and Immigration.
  • Five or more years of experience in recruitment or human resources.
  • Exceptional communication, relationshipbuilding, interpersonal, and decisionmaking skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in productivity software, database management, and internet search methods.
  • Familiarity with job boards and HRspecific computer systems.
  • Proven success in conducting various types of interviews.
  • Ability to travel as needed.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in human resources management or related field.
  • Experience and demonstrated results in developing and executing recruitment strategies.
  • Desire for professional growth through networking and training opportunities.

Work Environment

Hours of Work
Full-time, typically Monday to Friday. Hours may vary based on travel requirements.


Job Type:
Fixed term contract

Contract length: 18 months
