Regular Full-Time opportunity for an
Research Computing Managerposition in
Research Computing with
Sunnybrook Research Institute.


The Research Computing Manager serves as a technical expert on SRI's research and high-performance computing infrastructure and is responsible for maintaining existing capabilities, developing new functionality, and supporting SRI faculty and student work.


The Research Computing Manager will maintain core systems and software along with supporting the specialized needs of campus researchers and instructors via individual consultations and group presentations.

This position will collaborate closely with the hospital IT workforce as well as SRI scientists, staff, students, and partners at other institutions to provide broad technology support for operational issues, research, and teaching.

The position will be responsible for managing our deskside support team, system administration team and REDCap team.

What you bring:


  • Bachelor's degree in a related field with 35 years of experience in a related position or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Broad understanding of networking architecture, technologies and healthcare cybersecurity priorities
  • Experience implementing enterprise software solutions
  • Significant programming experience with a language such as Python or C/C++ and understanding of SQL/MySQL
  • Advanced understanding of large file system management, backup and recovery protocols
  • Broad understanding of management of Linux, Microsoft and MAC devices
  • Understanding of highperformance computing architectures
  • Experience working in an academic research lab would be an asset

Preferred Skills

  • Experience supporting a highperformance computing environment
  • Experience compiling and installing scientific software
  • Knowledge of job scheduling software such as Slurm
  • Experience working within a Red Hat Enterprise Linux or similar environment
This position does require some weekend and on-call activities and will be compensated in accordance with our SRI policies.
