The Software Delivery branch within DDD is accountable for the excellence of the technical delivery of software. The branch oversees the technical practices of Architecture, CloudOps, DevOps, & Quality Assurance (QA), and Software Development.

The branch also enables product and platform teams by providing access to underlying infrastructure such as capability in architecture, cloud services, and common tooling and patterns.


Role Responsibilities:

The Software Delivery branch is looking for a Manager of Data Operations. This position will report to the Director of Cloud Operations.

The responsibilities for this position include:

CloudOps Practice and Governance:

  • Contributing to overarching collaborative CloudOps practices and standards.
  • Promoting the value of CloudOps approach to facilitate embedding them into ongoing team operations.
  • Maintaining relationships with other managers across the branch, division, and in client ministries to advance CloudOps collaboration, practice, and governance.
  • Facilitating ongoing communication and teamwork with others in the ministry and within other ministries at various levels of the organization. Providing recommendations to senior leaders to improve governance standards and practice.

Data engineering solutions development:

  • Owning and driving implementation of data engineering standards across the CloudOps unit.
  • Architect data engineering solutions with 6 12 month horizons so that digital products will address client needs.
  • Leading the scripting of infrastructure as code and testing of that code in the continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipeline to speed them up and be more efficient.
  • Providing expertise as needed to solve more complex issues and support Engineers in complex problemsolving. Providing integrated updates and reporting to senior leaders, recommending solutions as needed to meet milestones and deliverable targets and to address emerging issues.
Lead the team to achieve its business goals in alignment with unit branch priorities within a positive team environment:


  • Identifying and monitoring the implementation of operational plans, adjusting workflow priorities as needed.
  • Providing leadership, guidance, training, and mentoring to team members.
  • Leading quality assurance reviews to ensure consistent, highquality, and valid processes and outputs completed by the team.
  • Promoting open and collaborative engagement with current and potential ministerial partners regarding the new digital delivery model.
  • Providing the team with the tools and supports that enables them to effectively deliver their objectives.
  • Managing human resources processes (e.g., vacation, training, performance management). Reviewing and contributing to various reports and responses (e.g., Action Requests, Briefing Notes, Budgets).
Participate in leading the branch to achieve goals in line with ministry and government priorities and stakeholder needs:


  • Informing and advising the Director on emergent issues and recommend goforward actions.
  • Providing advice and recommendations to the department senior and executive leaders to inform their decisionmaking and to shape responses.
  • Participating in unit planning and reporting.
  • Collaborating with the other unit and division managers to maintain information sharing and integrate reports to provide a complete account of the branch.
  • Representing the unit and/or ministry perspectives on working groups and committees.
  • Serving as acting Director, as needed.
