    Description

    Securiguard is seeking experience retail security professionals to join our elite team of undercover / plain clothes security guards. If you are looking for the next step in your career, and to gain valuable experience in crime prevention then this is the role for you.

    The Day to Day

    Each shift you will make a difference by maintaining the safety and security of the retail environment by conducting surveillance and deterring theft and criminal activity. Working discreetly among customers, you will remain vigilant for any signs of suspicious behavior or unauthorized activity. Your role involves detecting and apprehending individuals involved in theft or other criminal acts, adhering to legal and procedural guidelines when processing them through the local police service. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with your security team to ensure effective coverage and response to security concerns. Regularly monitoring CCTV systems and conducting thorough inspections of the premises are also key responsibilities to help identify and prevent security breaches.

    Overall, your commitment to maintaining a safe and secure retail environment is paramount in protecting assets and ensuring the well-being of customers and employees alike.

    What you bring:

    • Valid Ontario security licence, and first aid / CPR
    • Use of Force Training
    • Minimum 2 years security work experience in a retail setting, working in plain clothes with the primary focus on identifying and apprehending shoplifters.
    • Drivers Licence and ability to travel to various retail sites.
    • Demonstrated ability to write professional security reports with a strong command of the English language.
    • Familiarity with the use of CCTV systems.
    • Punctual and reliable.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
    • Ability to remain calm in difficult situations.
    • Working knowledge of the Criminal Code of Canada, the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and Trespass to Property Act.
    • Willingness to work irregular hours and travel as needed.

    Training:

    Completion of Use of Force Training and Lawful Subject Restraint, and Crisis Management training are requirements for this role., and also require annual re-certification. The training is provided to new employees for this role along with Securiguard University Orientations courses for skill development.
