A Day in the Life of a Project Manager at RWC

Be part of designing your community From the bustling downtown core all the way to Northern British Columbia you will be championing operations at our client sites.

Our previous and current locations include Amazon HQ, YVR Airport, University of British Columbia, Parq Casino, Emily Carr University, Willowbrook mall, Royal Columbian Hospital, Mills Memorial Hospital (Terrace BC) and much more The Project Manager plays a crucial role in breaking down the project's goals and communicating them to the project management team.

You will be encouraging staff to always put their best foot forward ensuring the entire operation functions at peak efficiency.


Primary Responsibilities

  • Spearhead project planning including establishing project objectives, policies, procedures, performance standards, risk analysis, quality control, project communication and flow of information.
  • Coordinate with estimating regarding project specifications, budgets, project billing and potential risks
- thoroughly review budgets based off of cost codes and work areas

  • Approve material, equipment and subcontractor invoices. Confirm discrepancies regarding payroll hours and contractor invoices
  • Motivate and lead a team of project coordinators
  • Work in tandem with the site team to develop the project plan, engineering methods and monitor the project schedule.
  • Collaborate with GC, supervisors and logistics on a frequent basis. Participate in budget meetings and scope meetings during project life span
  • Play an active role in business development, proposal submissions, interviews, presentations, client/consultant relationship management.
  • Facilitate the review and distribution of drawings, specifications, change orders, site instructions, RFI's and inspection reports.
  • Process all change orders, including negotiating and assessing cost and schedule impact.
  • Understand and enforce prime contract and subcontract responsibilities.
  • Negotiate and issue subcontracts, major purchase orders and monitor their progress and schedule.
  • Manage financial aspects of contracts to protect the company's interests and maintains good relationships with clients.
  • Complete periodic reviews of the completed buildings to implement ongoing quality control measures into any future designs and projects.
  • Participate in final inspection of the project and have the project team correct any remaining deficiencies.
  • Management of work processes and procedures relating to associated process improvements, training and personnel.
  • Maintain internal and external client relations to ensure ongoing communication and positive working relationships.
  • Assist with adhoc projects and other duties as required.

Skills and Qualifications

  • 5+ years in Project Management in a construction capacity.
  • Degree or diploma in a related field. Combination of training and experience will be considered
  • Knowledge of construction contracts.
  • Proficient English language. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience writing technical reports
  • Familiar with MS office, BlueBeam and AutoCAD.
