    The Marine Institute of Memorial University is a technically oriented education, training, and applied research institution. Offering a unique suite of programs including technical certificates, technician diplomas, diplomas of technology, bachelor's degrees, post-graduate certificates, advanced diplomas and graduate degrees, the work of Student Support area within Academic and Student Affairs supports this diverse student population. We are looking for an energetic, student focused leader to join our community.

    DUTIES

    Reporting to the Associate Vice-President (Marine Institute), Academic and Student Affairs, the successful applicant will work as part of the management team of the Marine Institute to provide a suite of high quality and coordinated student services to the students. The successful applicant will be responsible for the administration of student supports including, retention initiatives, student facing policies, crisis management, accessibility services, wellness and recreation, international student support, and institutional planning as it relates to students. The successful applicant will also provide advice and guidance to the Marine Institute community and student groups relating to both student conduct and support. This position will aim to foster creative partnerships in the provision of seamless student services with all campuses of Memorial University.

    Duties include providing leadership in the area of student support; providing direction and guidance to the daily operation of the student support staff; providing guidance relating to policy development and planning; providing leadership to the institute's retention initiatives; initiating change to enhance operations and services to all Marine Institute students; developing and implementing innovative programming; acting as a liaison between Student Affairs of the Marine Institute and relevant departments on all campuses of Memorial University.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Experience (5-7 years) in a post-secondary environment; graduation with a master's degree preferably in higher education, student affairs or related discipline; an equivalent combination of education, experience and training may be considered. Direct experience in dealing with student issues, a sound understanding of the challenges, emerging trends, and issues in post-secondary education; relationship building, communication and interpersonal skills; and conflict resolution and demonstrated creative problem-solving skills along with a commitment to a collaborative decision making are required, knowledge of programs at the Marine Institute would be a definite asset.

    SALARY $62,941 to $94,409
