    Description

    Position Summary

    Provides Seneca Polytechnic's (ITS, administration, and faculty) with analysis and profile information related to technology and organizational landscape that involves trends, performance improvement, and data analysis.

    Responsible for the design and implementation of database structures, policies and procedures. Manages business intelligence resources and services and ensures data quality. Supporting client needs, builds extract, transform and load tools to design, develop and implement data repositories and subsets of production setups.

    Responsibilities

    Development

    • Conduct analysis and planning for business application requirements and user needs. Design, architect, and develop Business Intelligence repositories.
    • Design and develop the analytical cube, analysis measures and KPIs.
    • Extract data from multiple internal and external sources. Builds databases and data marts according to the project needs. Develops associated table relationships, queries and cubes.
    • Developed solutions are extensively tested and validated.
    • Based on design requirements, build metrics and measurement tools such as scorecards, dashboards, reports and drill downs.
    • Guide intermediate BI Analyst on report development, problem solving and instructions on the ETL process.

    Support

    • Lead BI initiatives from planning to deployment and provides support throughout the products lifecycle.
    • Troubleshoots BI related issues, performance tuning as needed.
    • Conduct database services and data integrity analysis, data quality assessment reporting.
    • Lead training sessions with the user clients.

    Strategy, Planning & Projects

    • BI Analyst will design software solutions and systems involved with internal and external data sources based on business needs designed by the client.
    • Designs the process of collecting artifacts using methods such as questionnaires, interviews, or observations, designing content specific reports and database structures.
    • Evaluates database, data warehouse, data mart components that may include relational DB systems, ETL services, metadata, and DB designs related to BI requirements.
    • Works with Project Manager leader to ensure data is effectively collected and tagged.
    • Install service pack updates, system upgrades and applies required custom changes.

    Qualifications

    Education

    • Minimum (3) three-year Diploma/Degree in Computer Science, Business Technology Management, Information Technology, Data Base and Knowledge Management, or related field.

    Experience

    • Minimum 5 years of business intelligence and data warehouse experience as a Systems Analyst in a complex integrated enterprise systems environment.
    • Strong experience with business intelligence and data warehouse design principles and industry best practices.
    • System enhancement, upgrade, release planning and execution experience.
    • Experience in data mining techniques and procedures.
    • Experience with Tableau, PeopleSoft, SQL and ETL tools (such as Alteryx) is preferred.
    • Understanding of machine learning concepts a preference.
