Responsibilities:


Under the direction of the Rehabilitation & Supportive Care Program Manager and the supervision of an Occupational Therapist, the Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) completes therapeutic and technical support duties in the delivery of occupational therapy services to QEII Health Sciences Centre clients both independently and collaboratively with health care team members and students.

The Occupational Therapy Assistant is responsible to adhere to QEII Health Sciences Centre policies and procedures.


In addition to the above responsibilities, this position requires the OTA to liaise with Occupational Therapists, Rehabilitation Engingeers and Seating Technicians on a variety of projects and procedures related to assistive technology components.

The development of educational materials, delivery of such materials through educational sessions to other healthcare professionals is a key component of this position.

The Occupational Therapy Assistant may be required to provide services throughout the Rehabilitation and Supportive Care Services portfolio. Frequent travel within the QEII site is required, as well as occasional travel within central zone.


Qualifications:

We would love to hear from you if you have the following:

  • Grade XII
  • Graduation from an Occupational Therapy Assistant program recognized by the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapy
  • Annual BCLS certification
  • Previous experience and/or knowledge of seating and mobility systems an asset
  • Previous experience splinting and/or hand therapy considered an asset
  • Previous experience relating to technology components in a rehabilitation setting an asset
  • Strong communication, creativity, problem solving and organizational skills are required
  • Must be adaptable, flexible and demonstrate initiative
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively with health care team members, clients, caregivers and students
  • Competencies in other languages preferred, French an asset
  • Successful external applicants are required to provide a criminal record check (including Vulnerable Sector Search) to People Services before starting employment and assume any associated costs as a condition of employment

Hours of Work:


  • Permanent, Fulltime position; 75 hours biweekly.

$ $25.82 hourly
