Description

The County of Elgin has a vacancy for a Full-Time Administrative Assistant in the Emergency Management Department.

Reporting to the Manager of Emergency Management & Elgin-Middlesex Regional Fire School, the Administrative Assistant is responsible for carrying out a variety of routine and confidential clerical support functions for Fire Training, Emergency Management, and EMS delivery.


Key Responsibilities:


Assists Emergency Management and Fire Training with support functions (including fire training orientation, graduation ceremonies, back-up proctoring duties, and emergency management exercises).

Supports record requests from Local Municipal Partner (LMP) Fire Chiefs and/or CAOs.

Maintains files, records, statistics and correspondence related to Emergency Management and the Elgin-Middlesex Regional Fire School.

Prepares public education material for Emergency Management purposes.

Assists with regional fire school student registration and course documentation.

Attends meetings and prepares minutes, reports and correspondence.

Greets visitors, answers phone, maintains office supplies, processes invoices for payment.


Qualifications:
College diploma/University degree with relevant education, experience and training

Proficient with MS Office, particularly MS Word, Excel and Power Point

Excellent data entry skills with keen attention to detail

Exceptional organizational and time management skills

Minimum of 1 to 2 years in a clerical support role


An understanding of NFPA standards, Ontario Fire College/Academic Standards & Evaluation, the Fire Service, and Emergency Management will be considered an asset.


Salary:
$28.92-$33.83 per hour
