Your Opportunity:
Position is Monday to Friday rotating shifts from and 1 in 3 weekends from You are organized, adaptable, and can work effectively under pressure.
Able to prioritize tasks and manage your time, you have technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills necessary in medical laboratories today.
You are comfortable working independently and as part of a team, you can develop and maintain positive working relationships with your colleagues and other healthcare professionals you may interact with.
You have good judgement and decision-making skills and will conduct yourself according to the Alberta Health Services Code of Conduct and the APL Values of Kindness, Inclusion, Innovation, Agility, and Accuracy.
Description:
As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner.
You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Successful completion of internal/external Laboratory Assistant Program. Participates in continuing education and training to maintain current knowledge. Demonstrates excellent organizational, problem-solving, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on client service and public relations. Maintains professionalism at all times. Performs repetitive duties efficiently and accurately. MLA certificate or equivalent training program. Phlebotomy and ECG skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
2 years of recent phlebotomy in community service environment. 2 years of recent ECG in community service environment.
