Occupant safety systems rely on active sensors and microprocessors to trigger pre-crash and in-crash occupant protection (such as tightening safety belts and deploy airbags) when it judges a collision is inevitable.

Critical crash information is sent over e-call to emergency services and recorded for post-crash analysis.

Position Outline:


As a Buyer, you will be responsible for the procurement of goods and services necessary for the time-sensitive and cost-effective operation of AEC.

Within this role, you will be expected to aid in driving the business forward through achievement of cost saving objectives, streamlining of the operation and processes as well as engaging in continuous improvement initiatives.


What you'll do:


  • Purchase requisition review and order placement in accordance with purchase process
  • Administration of purchase orders, supplier setups, source justification, cost savings tracking and supply base issue resolution including delivery and payment issues
  • Ongoing review and analysis of historical and forecast spend to strategize and plan for realization of OPEX and CAPEX cost savings within assigned supply base categories
  • Tendering RFx, reviewing proposals, performing cost analysis, commercial discussions and selecting/recommending suppliers, often in conjunction with other functional groups
  • Establishing approved vendors and proactively seeking new potential sources
  • Supporting personnel from all departments requiring IPU expertise or as escalation point

What you'll bring

  • Achievement and maintenance of the certified SCMP (Supply Chain Management Professional) designation from SCMA (Supply Chain Management Association)
  • 57 years relevant indirect procurement experience, preferably within automotive industry
  • Procurement experience within multiple commodity groups; line components and production consumables, capital machinerytoolingprototype, test equipment and laboratory services, plant engineering, utilitiesenergyrecycling, information technology and telecom, general supplies and services, packaging, logistics
  • Strong negotiating, problem solving, multitasking, time management, presentation, written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and JD Edwards Enterprise One
  • Team oriented with ability to work with mínimal supervision
  • Ability to travel within North America or internationally (if required)
