The School of Education at Bishop's University (Sherbrooke, QC) is currently seeking to fill one tenure track position at the Assistant Professor level in the area of
_Curriculum, Teaching, and Learning at the Elementary Level.

_The position ideally begins on
July 1, 2023 or a mutually convenient time.

Bishop's University is located on the traditional territory of the Abenaki people, members of the Wabanaki Confederacy.

Bishop's University (Sherbrooke, Quebec) is primarily an undergraduate university dedicated to interdisciplinarity consistent with its liberal education mission; commitment to undergraduate teaching is highly valued.

The School of Education approaches education as a force for social transformation, combatting intersectional discrimination and social inequality.

It is committed to developing practices of ongoing dialogue and action that lead to inclusion and substantive equity, in response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action, the Association of Canadian Deans of Education's Accord on Indigenous Education, and the Scarborough Charter on Anti-Black Racism and Black Inclusion in Canadian Higher Education.

They would also have experience in learning environments at the elementary level. Knowledge of the Quebec Education Program or other competency-based curricula will be highly valued.

- a teaching dossier outlining their teaching philosophy and evidence of teaching experiences,
- a statement of research agenda, research contributions and methodologies,
- and the names of two or three referees who may be contacted (please do not send reference letters at this time).


The hiring committee recognizes that scholars have varying career paths and that career interruptions can be part of an academic record.

Additionally, in line with SSHRC considerations for merit review of Indigenous research, there is a recognition that reciprocity and co-creation in community-based research is a significant aspect of this work not always captured by conventional scholarship records.
