VERBIO Diesel Canada Corporation (VDC) invests in a biodiesel and glycerine production facility in Welland, Ontario. VDC will become one of the leading biodiesel producers in North America with an annual capacity of approx. 150,000 tons of biodiesel and 18,000 tons of crude glycerin. VDC strives for technological leadership in the field of production of renewable fuels.


Position Purpose
Verbio Diesel Canada is currently recruiting for a Quality Assurance & Lab Manager.

In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, updating, and coordinating VDC's ISO 9001 quality and BQ-9000 systems for regulatory, customer, and third-party audits.

You will provide leadership, direction, and guidance to maintaining and improving VDC's quality program.


Key responsibilities

  • Oversee the entire quality program and implement improvements to meet both customer and regulatory requirements
  • Provide training to VDC personnel on use of lab equipment, lab methods, and testing requirements
  • Maintain, update and organize digital and hard copy internal and customer specifications
  • Troubleshoot issues with operations and logistics to resolve customer issues
  • Approve new materials and significant changes within a documented change management program
  • Provide accurate and timely COA's for customer shipments
  • Handling all document requests in an efficient and timely fashion including: product questionnaires, and all other related quality documentation
  • Preparing an ordering list for purchasing lab supplies and tracking lab budget
  • Update and continuously improve the quality program
  • Timely, accurate and efficient management of QMS documents as primary Document Controller.
  • Manage both internal and external audits of all quality management system related documents as per ISO 9001 and BQ 9000 standard.
  • Respond to common inquiries from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community.
  • Generate reports and correspondence in a consistently professional and courteous manner
  • Manage a team of three quality technicians on site
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience working with a QA/QC department. Specific lab experience is a priority
  • Bachelor of Science or Engineering in a technical discipline (Food, Chemical or Biological Sciences, Chemical / Process Engineering preferred)
  • Experience with ISO programs is required
  • Knowledge of quality assurance terminology, methods, and tools
  • Analytical, problemsolving, and decisionmaking skills
  • Leadership skills
  • Push to continually drive personal and organizational results
  • Experience in the bio fuels industry would be considered an asset
