    Position Overview

    Reporting to the Manager, Operational Reporting and working out of the Calgary Corporate Office on hybrid schedule, with Tuesday - Thursday in office and Monday / Friday work from home, the Financial Analyst will be responsible for financial analysis for the operational functions and month end close. As well as providing support to departments and lead forecasting and the annual budget/5 year plan for site departments allocated to the role. Occasional travel to the Ekati mine site may be required.

    Job Duties/Responsibilities


    • Prepare for monthly departmental cost review meetings, including detailed cost variance analysis;

    • Maintain costing in SAP for the month end close, including preparing journal entries for cost allocations, accruals, prepaid entries, down payments, etc.;

    • Maintain fixed asset register in SAP and manage accounting and analysis for capital projects;

    • Prepare continuities and support schedules for financial reporting;

    • Prepare accounting entries or memos for complex accounting issues if required;

    • Support departments in preparing budgets and forecasts including presentations and training on financial topics;

    • Work with assigned area managers to record and monitor their cost and spending;

    • Support other team members as needed;

    • Prepare period-end internal controls and reconciliations over financial reporting;

    • ADHOC projects as required.

    Education/Experience


    • Bachelor's degree with focus on accounting/business/finance;

    • Professional designation, (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA) with 3+ years of relevant experience;

    • Experience in preparing budgets, forecasts and analyses;

    • Experience with SAP and Fixed assets is preferred;

    • Display critical thinking and the ability to analyze complex situations and demonstrated ability to work independently with minimum guidance;

    • Motivated, proactive and timeline driven team player;

    • Ability to handle multiple deadlines and a high-pressure environment.

    • Experience working in the mining industry, northern Canada, and an understanding of the northern regulatory environment is preferred
