The City of Côte Saint-Luc is looking for dynamic employees to join its workforce. The City prides itself on providing the highest level of services to its residents.

We are looking for a vibrant, highly-motivated and creative service-oriented Librarian to make a difference and improve the quality of services in Côte Saint-Luc.


Working hours:


This is a full-time 35hrs/week position Sunday to Thursday 10:00am to 6:00pm.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provision of in-person and remote reference service to library users including research, reader's advisory, technology and digital resources
  • Supervise, and train staff, student employees, volunteers, and/or interns, as appropriate.
  • Plans, organizes and implements the provision of services and make recommendations for service improvements
  • Develops instructional programs for the public
  • Create or participate in the development and implementation of policies and procedures
  • Responds to patron complaints and resolves problems as they arise
  • Is trained on all Service Desk(s) and can be called upon to provide coverage delivering appropriate service according to library procedures and standards
  • Participates and contributes to any technology initiatives/demonstrations that the library may engage in to assist the public.
  • Learns and actively uses different forms of digital technology, including library digital resources in order to assist the public
  • Develops and/or participates in outreach initiatives or activities for the community.
  • Helps to promote inclusion to a diverse population with accessible and welcoming initiatives
  • Selects and orders material for the library and tracks all purchases while minding the annual allocated budget
  • Assists with the marketing of departmental services to the community.
  • Assists with the implementation of yearly goals and objectives for the department
  • Acts as supervisor on duty for the library as needed
  • Opens and closes the library as required
  • Prepares monthly statistical and narrative reports for the Manager of Digital Learning & Resource Discovery
  • Responsible for statistical informationgathering related to service, performing analysis and writing reports.
  • Attends departmental meetings participating in whole library initiatives

Reporting Relationships:


Requirements:


  • ALAaccredited Master of Library Science degree
  • Minimum 2 years' experience working in a library providing reference services
  • Proficiency in Internet and digital resource searching.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and work in a fastpaced environment
  • Excellent customer service and teamwork skills
  • Good problemsolving ability
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills in both English and French
  • Interest in reference and reader's advisory services and/or technology/digital learning
  • High level of professionalism and commitment to the organization and its mission and the ability to work flexibly in a changing environment
  • Demonstrated knowledge of key trends in library science, including the ability to evaluate emerging technologies.
