Shak's World Community Centre (SWCC) uses basketball, innovation, and mentorship as a bridge to youth employment, education, and training. SWCC's youth-led urban community development project tackles the underlying issues leading to youth addiction, homelessness, and mental health challenges.Recreation Facilitator
Under the direction of the Program Coordinator, the Recreation Facilitator will:
- Develop and implement child-care programs that support and promote the physical, cognitive, emotional and social development of children.
- Facilitates physical activities in gymnasium for the Youth.
- Plan and maintain an environment that protects the health, security and wellbeing of children.
- Assess the abilities, interests and needs of children and discuss progress or problems with parents and other staff members.
- Observe children for signs of potential learning or behavioural problems and prepare reports for parents, guardians or supervisor.
- Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with coworkers and community service providers working with children.
- May plan and organize activities for schoolage children in childcare programs before and after regular school hours.
- Current enrollment/ Diploma in Recreational & Leisure Diploma or experience working in the same role.
- Certification in CPR.
- Proven ability to work closely with other team members.
- Sensitivity and respect for individual and cultural differences.
- Adequate energy level and ability to meet the physical demands of the job.
- A competitive hourly wage of $19.00/hr $24.00/hr
