DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


Reporting to the Manager, Credit Transfer, Pathways and PLAR, the Credit Transfer and Pathways Assistant supports the achievement of the institution's recruitment and enrolment plan as defined by Durham College's SEM framework by supporting credit transfer and pathway initiatives.

This position supports a culture of student mobility at Durham College by advising students about the options and processes which recognize previous learning through credit transfer and serves to help facilitate further education through degree completion pathways.


The Credit Transfer and Pathways Assistant is responsible for supporting the Credit Transfer Officer in facilitating the transfer credit process which recognizes a student's prior academic learning and credentials.

The incumbent provides information about how to access available transfer credit resources and supports the development and maintenance of those resources, in line with ONCAT directives, initiatives and projects.


The incumbent provides support to the admissions team and frontline to best serve students and plays a critical role at recruitment and conversion events by ensuring the dissemination of information and guidance to support potential credit transfer, and pathways students.


Communication and Client Support:

The Credit Transfer and Pathways Assistant is expected to be well versed on transfer and pathway opportunities and processes.

The incumbent will provide information and communicate with prospective students, applicants, current student and faculty regarding a broad range of credit transfer and pathways related questions/topics:


  • Participates in recruitment events such as the OCF and open house events, engaging with prospective students and their influencers' parents/family members to explain and provide direction for students wishing to transfer or pursue a program with pathway opportunities.

Process Analysis, Record Management and Administration:

  • Evaluates documentation needed for credit transfer including: post-secondary transcripts and International document and credential assessment reports.

Event Planning and Organization:

The Credit Transfer and Pathways Assistant assists in the organization and actively participates at on-campus events and information sessions that promote the benefit of degree-completion pathways and the transfer process


This includes:

  • Supports the annual pathways fair where partner institutions are invited oncampus to promote further education opportunities to current and alumni students.
  • Supports weekly dropin transfer and pathway events oncampus
  • Assists in the organization of partner institution visits by promoting and booking applicable space.

Transfer and Pathway Promotion
The incumbent will provide support for the promotion of credit transfer and pathway initiatives through different streams to meet target audience


This will include:

  • Assisting with the development of marketing and promotional tools for transfer students and the promotion of degreecompletion pathway opportunities.
  • Creating social media content for various platforms
  • Coordinating with web team digital signage requests
