The District

School District No.

51 (Boundary) encompasses 11 school sites from Big White Ski Resort east to Christina Lake, as well as 2 bus/maintenance garages and a school board office located in Grand Forks.

The District employs approximately 275 employees, serves 1,300 students in K-12 and administers an annual budget of $20,000,000.


SD51 is a small, rural district that operates on a 4-day school week with students in session Monday to Thursday.

Grand Forks is situated on the confluence of the Kettle and Granby rivers and is approximately 2.5 hours from Nelson, Kelowna and Spokane.

The Boundary is a land of fertile fields, lush valleys, lakes, rivers and mountains where you can find unlimited adventure through four distinct seasons.

School District 51 is looking for a Food Program Coordinator interested in working in the Boundary Area. School District 51 operates on a 4-day week with schools open Monday to Thursday. Schools are located in Christina Lake, Grand Forks, Greenwood, Midway, Rock Creek, Beaverdell and Big White.

The position is twenty-two (22) hours per week, ten (10) months per year.


Qualifications:

Grade 12, plus one year of recent experience in the food or social services field;
Demonstrated ability for attention to detail, accuracy, and efficiency, including ability to complete work to required deadlines;
Demonstrated experience with planning and organization;
Intermediate computer literacy skills; and

Valid Class 5 driver's license.


Applicants will be expected to:


Assist with the implementation of the Food for Families Program, including the development of internal procedures and processes in conjunction with the Health Promoting Schools Coordinator.

Identify students/families in need and create support plan for them.


Establish positive working relationships within the school district, community and partners, and positive connections with other service providers in the community.

Liaise with local food bank and/or food shares, including attending Regional Food Security Group meetings.

Source and order food and supplies.

Maintain excellent verbal, electronic and written communication skills.

Maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information.


Understand and act in accordance with school and district policies and procedures, district Health & Safety Manual, WorkSafeBC regulations, health and nutrition guidelines, and Food Safe procedures.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Courteous and cooperative manner with students, other employees, and the general public

Plan and work independently and without direct supervision

The position will primarily work from Hutton Elementary, however, travel throughout the District is required. Travel expenses will be reimbursed per Board policy. The regular weekly schedule will be Wednesday (7 hours), Thursday (7 hours), and Friday (8 hours).

The salary for this position will be in accordance with the Collective Agreement presently in effect between the Board and CUPE Local 2098.
