Fortis Mining, Engineering, and Manufacturing is currently recruiting for a team player to fulfill the role of
Manufacturing Support Coordinator. As our organization continues to evolve and grow, this role performs a variety of tasks that play a role in our success.

The Manufacturing Support Coordinator's primary responsibilities include scheduling of fabrication projects, third party vendor management, Continuous Improvement initiatives, and aiding in accomplishing an ideal workflow process for the Fabrication Shop.

The position will report directly to the Fabrication Shop Manager. Fortis will be moving to a new location in early 2023, which is an exciting time for our organization as we continue to grow

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in managing the workflow of the welding shop ensuring the jobs are received, reviewed, and completed in a timely manner
  • Provide Design Review & Design Assistance as needed
  • Review BOMs for Requisitioning of Material
  • Propose and Implement Continuous Improvement Initiatives
  • Assist in Developing and Maintaining an integrated Estimating, Engineering, and Production Team
  • Work closely with other department leads to foster a 'Design for Manufacture' process
  • Liaising with Production Manager and Supply Chain Supervisor to ensure that adequate materials are available for scheduled start date of jobs
  • Liaise with the Production Manager, Supply Chain Supervisor, Fabrication Shop Manager, and other internal personnel, as necessary, to discuss upcoming jobs that will need to be scheduled
  • Assist in coordination of training, directing & supervision of junior employees and apprentices, inspecting and certifying their work (note: CWB Certification, training, maintenance, etc.)
  • Act as a primary contact for Customer communications for Fabrication projects
  • Must be adaptable to a changing work environment, competing demands and is able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events

  • Review blueprints and specifications; ensures drawings and specifications will function
  • Processing jobs according to defined company policies and protocols
  • Reviewing all job requests
  • Providing details necessary to administration office for job number assignment
  • Reviewing, understanding, and completing work orders
  • Following detailed instructions on the order and asking for clarification prior to starting the job
  • Accurate and detailed tracking of time spent on jobs
  • To deal courteously with customers, vendors, and coworkers, displaying a professional conduct and appearance
  • Promote a positive, teamoriented environment
  • Provide other support to the company, as required
  • Assist with other duties, as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum Grade 1
  • Minimum of three (3) years experience in a heavy manufacturing environment preferred but not required
  • Experience in a supervisory position
  • Any safetyrelated or equipment training certificates would be an asset, but not required (i.e., Forklift)
  • Driver's license required
