Overview:

Pembina's External Affairs Service Unit is currently recruiting for an Advisor, Government Relations to join their team.

This 15-month temporary role will be based out of Pembina's Calgary Office and will report to the Manager, Government Relations & Community Engagement.


In this role, you will help support the team's efforts to research, analyze and communicate on key public policy issues affecting our company and the broader energy sector.

They will also help ensure that Pembina is a leader in engaging with local, provincial, and federal governments as well as other public sector stakeholders.


Responsibilities:


Responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Assist with developing and maintaining a comprehensive government relations strategy for Pembina based on a sound understanding of business issues and priorities in the midstream energy infrastructure sector;
  • Monitor government agendas and activities and identify risks, opportunities, and issues relevant to Pembina's goals and objectives;
  • Provide analysis of current and emerging government policies and advocate on behalf of Pembina on a variety of issues that advance the company's strategy;
  • Participate and actively represent Pembina with various industry associations and governmental committees;
  • Assist management in developing and maintaining strong relationships with government officials and key public influencers, enhancing awareness and understanding of, and engagement with, Pembina projects through the collaborative development and execution of coordinated public affairs and issue management plans;
  • With input and support from other corporate functions, develop, and implement advocacy and engagement strategies to support and enhance awareness of Pembina's projects and their value and impact on government and public affairs stakeholders;
  • Assist in developing strategic priorities for our business that align with the broader public policy and government affairs landscape;
  • Additional duties and support as required; and
  • Participate in a diverse and inclusive work environment.

Job Qualifications:


  • 5+ years' experience in a government relations role with a significant focus on engagement at various levels;
  • A degree in business, political science, economics, social sciences, or a related discipline;
  • Success working with the federal and provincial governments in relevant jurisdictions;
  • A solid network of key stakeholders, including both federal and provincial government officials, relevant agencies and industry associations;
  • An understanding of the political process in Canada at both provincial and federallevels coupled with an understanding of the political landscape;
  • A solid understanding and appreciation for government policies and political issues relevant to the energy sector;
  • A broad understanding of the legal and regulatory framework and reporting obligations of public companies in Canada;
  • Exceptional communication and listening skills with a proven track record of advising senior management regarding government relations;
  • Ability to influence strategies and build positive working relationship at all levels fostering trust, collaboration, and teamwork;
  • An analytical and intuitive approach to making timely decisions, assessing risks, evaluating alternatives and selecting the best course of action;
  • Able to multitask effectively, with strong timemanagement skills, and the ability to accelerate in a very fastpaced, changing environment;
  • Willingness to commit to a 15 month temporary position;
  • Keeps current on new ideas and techniques for areas of responsibility in support of government relations; and
  • Strong verbal and written communications, interpersonal and organizational skills.
