Position Summary and Scope of Service:
The Housekeeping Attendant provides services in accordance with the Mission and Values of St.
Amant, the goals and objectives of Corporate Resource Services and the procedures of Environmental Services. This position promotes a customer service focus in the provision of indirect services to St.
Amant clients, visitors and customers.
The Housekeeping Attendant is responsible for working collaboratively with the Environmental Services Supervisor and the Manager to ensure all areas of St.
Amant are clean, sanitary and safe and maintains high standards of cleaning in assigned areas and provides services that are timely, consistent and professional.
Qualifications
- Minimum of Grade XII (or GED)
- Previous experience in housekeeping as asset
- Proficiency in English that includes the ability to read, write and communicate in English
- Ability to follow written and oral in a precise and conscientious manner
- Ability to adjust work schedules to work around the needs of clients and staff
- Fine motor skills to handle equipment and supplies
- Ability to work safely in a physically demanding environment. Position involves walking, standing, bending, reaching, stretching, lifting, carrying/pushing and/or moving moderately heavy weights
- Ability to perform dust mopping and damp mopping and vacuuming for extended periods of time
- Exposed to chemical substances, moisture, odor, grime and interruptions. May be exposed to inadequate lighting, dust, heat, noise, infectious diseases, and cold or hot temperature
- Ability to comply with St.
- Ability to comply with policies and regulations regarding the use of personal protective equipment and safe work procedures
- Energetic, self directed, client focused
- Functions effectively as a team member and demonstrates a strong collaborative approach to problem solving
- Keen sense of accuracy and attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, with mínimal supervision and as part of the team
- Demonstrated initiative to problem solve within a range of duties and responsibilities
- Must be able to work evenings and weekends as required
- Physically capable of meeting the demands of the position, in good health and able to maintain a satisfactory attendance record
Major Duties:
- Dry mops and washes floors, moving furniture and beds as required. Vacuums carpets
- Wipes dust from furniture, desks, filing cabinets, pictures, phones, computers, doors, frames, baseboards, cupboards, light fixtures, etc. in any assigned areas
- Damp wipes furniture, shelves
- Empties waste baskets and garbage containers, relines and takes garbage to janitor room
- Cleans windows, radiators, glass doors, fire hose cabinets, handrails
- Spot cleans walls
- Cleans washroom areas thoroughly, sinks, toilets, mirrors, counters, etc.
- Replenishes supplies (paper towels, toilet paper, soap), Refills cleaning supplies
- Keeps storage areas and cleaning cart neat and tidy
- Picks up garbage
- Assists with emergency cleanups if required.
- Assist with setting up for meetings and special functions as required

St.
Amant is a bilingual organization. Proficiency in both official languages (French/English) would be considered an asset.
As a Condition of Employment, new hires must complete a series of Occupational Health checks. This includes the requirement to confirm immunization or immunity of specific communicable diseases. Successful applicants will also be required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination prior to start date.
