Job Title:
Human Resources Manager


Location:
Etobicoke Corporate Head Office; Monday to Friday between 8:00am and 4:30pm with flexibility around start & end times. This is an in-office role.


Travel:
some overnight travel to plant locations within Ontario


Job Overview:


Reporting to the HR Director this position leads and provides guidance in best and realistic practices supporting the entire employee lifecycle in areas as talent acquisition and management, labour planning and onboarding, performance and attendance management, employment practices and legislation, leadership development and hourly employee skills training.

The HR Manager will partner with key stakeholders to establish solutions and mentor the HR team to do the same within their client groups.


Key Responsibilities:


1.

HR Operations and Team Management:

Ensure the smooth day-to-day operations of the HR department.

Manage and continuously improve HR processes, and workflows to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Lead and manage a team of HR Advisors, providing guidance, coaching, and support to enhance their performance and development.

Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture, ensuring the HR team effectively supports the organization's needs.


Identify business challenges, proactively, and partner with key stakeholders to establish solutions, coaching HR Advisors to do the same within their client groups.


Implement the cadence and use of available data analytics and other tools to provide guidance to the HR team and people leaders in identifying trends, diagnosing business needs and identifying areas for improvement for the function.


2. Health & Safety
Perform root cause analysis on all accidents and incidents to prevent future incidents. Ensure timely resolution and reporting to hazard, near-miss or incident reports. Champion plant JHSCs to ensure visibility and initiative stewardship.

Establish documented policies, procedures and safe work instructions. Review annually and update as required.

Manage all safety training records and ensure all mandatory training courses are completed in a timely manner.


Manage occupational and non-occupational WSIB/WCB claims and accommodations, including related administration, facilitation and record retention while maintaining relationships with internal and external for claims related matters.

Monitor ongoing claims to maintain plan oversight and work with the team to oversee the claims appeals process.


Manage early and safe return-to-work plans in conjunction with management to ensure appropriate medically-supported workplace accommodations for employees with illness/injury and or disability.

Implements work plans to ensure both a safe and sustainable return to work.

Maintain metric reporting, identify trends and improvement opportunities.

Employee Relations:

Provide expert guidance on complex employee relations issues, ensuring fair and consistent resolution of HR matters.

Conduct investigations and recommend appropriate actions to mitigate risk and maintain a positive workplace environment.

Talent Acquisition and Management:

Play a critical role in succession planning, talent development, and retention strategies.

Performance Management:

Oversee the performance management process, providing tools and support to leaders for talent management evaluations and development plans.

Identify opportunities to enhance performance and productivity across the organization.

HR Policy and Compliance:

Stay current with employment laws and regulations, ensuring HR practices and policies are in compliance.

Lead efforts to update and develop HR policies and procedures.


7.


Training and Development:

Identify training and development needs within the organization.

Assist in the design and delivery of HR-related training programs.

Manage production skills maintenance training program

Maintain mandated compliance training

Employee Engagement and Wellness:

Collaborate on programs to enhance employee engagement, recognition, and well-being.

Assess the organization's culture and recommend strategies to maintain a positive and inclusive workplace.

Support employee engagement initiatives, recognition programs, and employee surveys.

Analyze survey results and make recommendations for improvements.

Strategic HR Partnership:

Partner with manufacturing leaders to align HR strategies with the company's business goals and objectives.


Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field. CHRP/L certification or active progress towards completion preferred.

5+ years of progressive HR experience with at least 2 years in a leadership role.

Prior experience in a manufacturing or production facility with large hourly workforce preferred

Strong knowledge of employment laws and regulations.

Demonstrated experience in the areas of health and safety, employee engagement and culture program imp
