We are Standard Building Supplies, a fast-paced lumber and building supply company. We are seeking a motivated and experienced Lumber Buyer to join our procurement team.

This key role offers the opportunity to contribute to our company's growth and success while ensuring the availability, quality, and cost-effectiveness of lumber products for our customers.


Principal Responsibilities:


  • Source and procure commodity lumber products from domestic and international suppliers.
  • Monitor market trends, pricing fluctuations, and supply/demand dynamics to make informed purchasing decisions.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders, including sales and logistics teams, to optimize inventory levels and minimize supply chain disruptions.
  • Effectively manage inventory performance (turns, aging, GMROI, etc.)
  • Provide customer service, including product information, sourcing, claims, etc.
  • Prepare various internal paperwork and reports.
  • Attend meetings and trade shows as required.

Ideal Profile:


  • Experience in procurement in the lumber or building materials industry is an asset.
  • Knowledge of the lumber and building materials industry.
  • Proven track record of successful supplier negotiations and profitbased decision making.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make datadriven decisions.
  • Strong relationshipbuilding skills
  • Ability to make critical decisions under pressure.
  • Microsoft Office proficiency
