Your opportunity:

The Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy is a professional, degree-granting, interdisciplinary school.

Our mission is to deeply integrate research on global affairs and public policy with teaching and public education, and we are the home of world-renowned researchers and more than 30 academic centres and initiatives.


Under the general direction of the Manager, Administration & Finance and supervision of the Financial Officer, the incumbent provides financial/payroll support for various Centers, Institutes, and Programs within the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy.


Your responsibilities will include:


  • Processing accounts payable according to the University Guide to Financial Management
  • Monitoring department budget to ensure expenditures remain within budgeted allocations
  • Monitoring, recording, reconciling and/or reporting on trust accounts
  • Generating standard financial reports
  • Processing payroll
  • Entering salary and/or personnel information in HRIS

Essential Qualifications:


  • Advanced College Diploma in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or acceptable combination of equivalent education and experience.
  • Minimum three years of recent and relevant financial/accounting experience in an educational/public sector with experience monitoring budget, managing various accounts/accounts payable and administrating purchasing activities.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with developing, maintaining and analyzing reports.
  • Experience in processing invoices and conducting financial reconciliation.
  • Experience facilitating advanced queries and reports in databases.
  • Experience with FIS or SAP based financial systems.
  • Experience identifying and resolving individual financial discrepancies and bring forward for resolution.
  • Experience monitoring, reconciling and reporting funding accounts for budget and grants
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, especially with Excel spreadsheet.
  • Excellent problem solving, multitasking and analytical skills.
  • Excellent decisionmaking and communications skills.
  • Advanced skills in University's Administrative Management System (e.g. FIS, HRIS) or other related systems.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
