Job Requirements:
Fluent in English

Education:
Degree in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine or optometry

Credentials (certificates, licenses, memberships, courses, etc.): Licensure by provincial or territorial authorities; Canadian Veterinary Medical Association Certification

Experience is an asset

Additional Skills:

Hire and train staff
Supervise animal health technologists and animal care workers
Responsible for overall operation of animal hospital, clinic or mobile service to farms

Work Setting:
Veterinary clinic

Specific Skills:

Treat sick or injured animals by prescribing medication, setting bones, dressing wounds or performing surgery.
Diagnose diseases or abnormal conditions in individual animals, herds and flocks through physical examinations or laboratory tests.
Vaccinate animals to prevent and treat diseases.
Advise clients on feeding, housing, behavior, breeding, hygiene and general care of animals.
Provide a range of veterinary services including obstetrics, dentistry and euthanasia.
Perform routine, emergency and postmortem examinations
