Company Truck Driver for our
Toronto,
Ontario location. The Truck Driver / Auto Hauler is tasked with delivering new and used automobiles on Auto Carrying Trucks to pre-advised destinations


Job Summary


The Company Truck Driver / Auto Hauler is tasked with delivering new and used automobiles on Auto Carrying Trucks to pre-advised destinations.

Responsibilities will include the correct loading of the vehicle, recording of delivery information, ensuring overall vehicle safety.

The Truck Driver will be expected to operate the delivery vehicle in a safe manner at all times, obeying all rules of the road, and follow all appropriate company policies and procedures.

Job Duties
Includes the following, other duties may be assigned and are not limited to below:

  • Performs visual damage inspection of vehicles and reports using handheld computer.
  • Drives different types of trucks/trailers (9,10,11 car Stinger style carriers).
  • Move vehicles onto truck / trailer after determining proper positioning.
  • Secures each vehicle to trailer using all 4wheel straps and ratchet system.
  • Adjusts and secures movable trailer decks and ramps.
  • Drives Auto Carrier from origin to destination to deliver vehicles to customer.
  • Removes vehicle securement straps from each wheel to prepare for unloading.
  • Drives vehicles off of truck / trailer and releases to customer at destination.
  • Reports all vehicle pickups and deliveries to company using handheld computer.
  • Performs safety inspection of truck and trailer at beginning of shift and records in logbook.
  • Interacts professionally and politely as needed with customers at origin and destination.
  • Handles vehicles with great care at all time.
  • Drive safely at all times.
  • Keep truck clean and presentable at all times.
  • Other functions may be added to above as deemed necessary by Manager.

Education and Experience

  • Valid Class AZ (or provincial equivalent) driver's license.
  • Minimum 25 years of age.
  • Minimum 2 years of verifiable tractor trailer driving experience preferred.
  • Clean driving record / CVOR.
  • Clean Canadian National criminal record search; current within 6 months.
  • No more than 2 moving violations in past 3 years.
  • No convictions for impaired driving, alcohol related charges, following too close, careless driving or any other serious offence in past 5 years.
  • Above average driving skills.
  • Dedicated and committed to damage free handling of company equipment and freight.
  • Good knowledge of local geography.
  • Good command of English language.
  • Must successfully pass a road test and company screening.

Physical Demands-Technical Demands Required (some or all of the time)**- Climbing ladders up to height of 10 feet

  • Lifting objects weighing up to 50 lbs (Truck Ramps)
  • Various degrees of bending or stretching needed when entering / exiting vehicles
  • Tightening of vehicle restraint system (repetitive movement)
  • Standing, walking, sitting for various lengths of time
  • Operating handheld wireless computer / scanning device
  • Operating truck cab mounted computer
  • Operating cell phone

Work Environment

  • Able to work outside in all types of weather including cold, heat, rain and snow.
  • Able to function in different environmental or seasonal conditions such as working around dust, pollen, etc.
  • Safety Equipment and Clothing.
  • Employees are required to provide their own certified safety boots and wear at all times while working (Boot allowance provided after probationary periods).
  • Company will provide other PPE including safety vests, coveralls, work gloves, safety glasses, hard hats, and hearing protections as required.
