The Township of North Dundas is a growing municipality on the southern border of the
City of Ottawa.

It is a vibrant rural community that is home to over 12,000 with municipal headquarters in the Village of Winchester.

We are seeking a positive, motivated and creative individual to join our team in the recently created position of Deputy Clerk/Communications Coordinator.

Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services/Clerk, this position is responsible for the communication strategy for the Township including developing and producing communication initiatives for the Township and managing the website and social media accounts.

This position is responsible for a variety of duties in support of the Clerk and Council including drafting and reviewing documentation, reports, bylaws and minutes and overseeing electronic records management.

Responsibilities also include attending
Council meetings and community events.

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services/Clerk, the Deputy Clerk /
Communications Coordinator is responsible for a variety of duties in support of the
Clerk.

This position is also responsible for developing and producing communication initiatives for the Township of North Dundas including managing the Township's website and social media accounts.

This position is required to maintain confidentiality and professionally interact with employees, Council, management and the public.

The role will also assist the Clerk in fulfilling the statutory duties of the Clerk and provide backup for that position.


The Deputy Clerk/Communications Coordinator will also be responsible for electronic records management including the complaint management system, and drafting and reviewing documentation including correspondence, reports, bylaws and minutes.


Position Qualifications:


  • Postsecondary diploma or degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Local Government, Public Relations/Communications or a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • CMO designation or completion of the Municipal Administration Program from AMCTO would be an asset.
  • Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook and Teams) and familiarity with website and social media account maintenance.
  • 24 years' experience in an administrative role, preferably in a municipal environment and 2 years marketing and/or communications experience including print material, website and social media preferred.
  • Experience working on municipal elections would be an asset.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with a confident and pleasant disposition, able to defuse tense situations with the public.
  • Proven organizational skills to prioritize and complete tasks within appropriate time frames and work under pressure.
  • Good analytical reasoning and problemsolving skills including the ability to research potential solutions and make a recommendation.
  • Ensure a high level of respect for confidentiality and professional ethics.
  • Ability to work with mínimal supervision.
  • Resourceful and flexible
  • Knowledge of Sharepoint, Access E11, eScribe, Vadim and Zoom would be considered assets.
  • Bilingualism would be considered an asset.

  • Valid Class G Driver's Licence
  • Satisfactory police criminal record check

Position Description:


  • Provide administrative support to the Clerk.
  • Develop and produce communications initiatives for the Township including compiling data, draft, review, edit and print newsletters, Explore magazine, brochures media releases, annual report and other promotional materials.
  • Manage the Township's website and social media accounts ensuring timely and accurate information and updates.
  • Attend various community events and meetings as required, including evening and weekend events to take photos and create social media posts.
