Lynwood Charlton Centre (LCC) is a publicly funded charitable organization in the City of Hamilton which provides a spectrum of innovative and evidence-based, mental health services.

We provide residential, day treatment, and community-based services including in-home and school-based programs to children, youth, and families within the community.

Lynwood Charlton Centre is the Lead Agency for the Hamilton service area for Moving on Mental Health.

This is a Ministry initiated plan to transform the experiences of children, youth and families dealing with mental health issues, and strengthen the community-based system for delivering mental health services to them.

Through our Lead Agency role, we are responsible for leading and facilitating system reform in Hamilton.

To do this, we work collaboratively with other child and youth mental health service providers, other affiliated community partners including our child welfare, health, and school board partners, and parents and youth engaged in our services.


Role Overview


Reporting to the Senior Director of Finance and Administration, the
HR Manager will be responsible for overseeing day to day Human Resources activities within the Agency.

Will support other managers with their staff regarding any Human Resources practices, while providing leadership to HR staff.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate internal and external recruitment and selection processes for all agency sites and programs.
  • Support labour relations activities such as collective bargaining, grievance responses, and arbitration hearings.
  • Provide policies and tools and support to the management team for performance management processes.
  • Coordinate disability management and returntowork processes for WSIB, LTD, STD, and other EI leaves of absence.
  • Oversee the maintenance of electronic and hardcopy employee personnel files.
  • Develop and maintain the Human Resources Management Information System to increased efficiency levels.
  • Oversee the agency's JHSC program s to strive towards a safe and healthy workplace.
  • Revise and maintain agency Human Resources policies and procedures in accordance with legislation, best practices, and the Collective Agreement.
  • Support the maintenance of nonunion employee compensation data and programs.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to HR staff, ensuring that all staff receive appropriate orientation, training, and ongoing coaching.
  • Other related duties.

Experience/Skills and other Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in an HR team leadership role.
  • HR experience in a unionized work environment, including sound understanding of common collective agreement elements required.
  • Not for profit sector experience in an HR capacity is considered an asset.
  • Solid work experience with Avanti HR software, or similar HR software program required.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and revise solid HR policies and programs.
  • A University degree or College diploma in Human Resources Management or equivalent required; achievement of or working towards a suitable HR certificate is considered an asset.
  • G class drivers' license required. Own vehicle used for travel within Hamilton and Southern Ontario. Minimum 1 million dollar liability insurance coverage required.
  • Ability to develop and maintain solid work relationships with staff and management.
  • Excellent track record of leadership ability with advanced organizational and communication skills.
