Overview:


Reporting to the Manager, Total Rewards and working closely with the Senior Compensation Advisors, the Compensation Consultant will play a significant role as a member of the team and contribute to the overall success of Total Rewards on delivery of the non-union and union compensation programs at THP.

The Compensation Consultant roles initial key focus will be on supporting the pay equity and job evaluation programs.

They will also contribute their knowledge and expertise in various ways through cyclical compensation processes such as the market surveys, benchmarking, salary increases and performance pay, providing analytical support, preparing reports and costing of scenarios, and will serve as trusted colleague supporting the Total Rewards department, HR partners and will collaborate with business leaders and clients in providing support and direction on daily compensation requests.


Accountabilities:


  • Applies pay equity knowledge and participates in reviews to ensure that THP continues to maintain pay equity for all employee groups
  • Participate in job evaluations, including recommending the appropriate job level for nonunion, management, and union jobs, maintaining job codes in the system, and ensuring documentation is maintained for all decisions.
  • Advising and educating on compensation practices and legislation to HR, leadership, employees and Payroll
  • Providing compensation program support to client portfolios including unions
  • Continuous focus on process improvement, auditing, streamlining of administration and policy development as well as keeping abreast of all relevant legislative changes Assists/Leads in the analysis and review of current compensation programs and processes, the development of new programs by researching market trends, analyzing competitive compensation survey data, conducting plan modeling, and making recommendations for program changes
  • Design and maintain analytic compensation tools for costing, reporting, and analysing/automating compensation programs.
  • Regularly review and update compensation and benefits documentation to ensure information is clear, concise, and up to date.
  • Work closely with the HRIS team to ensure the system data is accurate and provide recommendation on system changes that can lead to efficiency for the team.
  • Ensure compensation program documentation is up to date and accurate as well as updating education materials for the business and HR.
  • Support the annual cyclical compensation programs including calculation files, best practices for audit, system updates, execution, communication and executive summaries
  • Support the market benchmarking process by participating in surveys, analysing results, identifying issues and preparing reports for leadership
  • Occasionally support on other areas of Total Rewards

Here's what you need to have:

  • Bachelor Degree in a related discipline and a certificate in Human Resources Management preferred
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in delivering compensation programs and supporting policies that address all levels of employees (staff to executive leadership)
  • Strong skill and understanding of pay equity legislation, job analysis, job evaluation and market analysis
  • Competence in project management, analytical skills and decisionmaking tools
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Effective written and oral communications (including presentation skills)
  • Strong analytical skills using both qualitative and quantitative data.
