ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


The Accounting Supervisor role shall support and assist in the general day-to-day operation of the accounting departments in our Vancouver, Surrey and Kelowna offices, and lead approximately 14 accounting team members.

This includes oversight of financial statements and targeted deadlines, staff development and training, department accuracy and regulatory compliance, and general efficiency in operations.

Reporting to the Director of Accounting Services, the key responsibilities are as follows:

  • Liaise and report to the Director of Accounting on department organization, operation, and corporate accounting flow-through requirements.
  • Liaise with Property Managers and clients (answer, research questions and queries)
  • Distribution cycle monitoring and management (monitor and deploy staff to meet targeted deadlines). Ensure Accounting staff are accountable to meet delivery dates of services to clients.
  • Maintain policies and procedures for the successful operation of the department.
  • Provide input and recommendations on policy and procedure improvements for the redevelopment of the accounting departments.
  • Provide input on software enhancements to improve department efficiency.
  • Department staff supervision and training (establish and manage training module for new and existing staff)
  • Reconcile and close out trust accounts for lost properties.
  • Portfolio assignment balancing (rebalance as properties are added, deleted, or moved)
  • Assist the Accounting staff with daytoday Condo Manager issues and provide technical support as required.
  • Assist in reviewing and signing off on monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Maintain list of all trust accounts (denote those with external signing authority).
  • Assist in managing and filing WorkSafe labour reports, GST and NR4 filings as required.
  • Assist in the development and oversight of onboarding and setting up systems management for new properties added to portfolios.
  • Act as an administrator with the bank when needed.
  • Coordinate, schedule, and liaise with auditors when required.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:


  • Experience in highvolume environment; preferably property management
  • Minimum 2 years of prior supervisory experience
  • Experience in fullcycle accounting in Sectional and Commercial/ Rental buildings considered an asset
  • Exceptional organization skills
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize time
  • Strong communication skills written and verbal
  • Technology saavy including strong computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and preferably Condo Manager/Yardi)
  • Resides within BC
  • Must be willing to work from our Vancouver or Kelowna office.

Salary:
$50,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
