Driver Trainer / Mobile Training Instructor

This may be the opportunity for you Pacific Western Transportation has an opening for a Driver Trainer / Mobile Training Instructor based out of its Centre for Innovation and Excellence office in Edmonton.

Position Overview
As a Driver Trainer/ MTU Instructor, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive driver education and training to new hires, to ensure they become proficient and safe drivers.
In this role, you will deliver Alberta's Class 2 and Class 2-S program to employees and customers and instruct sessions on our Mobile Training Unit and driving simulator; this involves driving evaluation, practical driving lessons and classroom teaching.
- Must have held a class 1 or 2Q driver's license for a minimum of 3 years
- Must have held an S endorsement for a minimum of 2 years
- Ability to become a Class 2 or 2S Driving Instructor and successfully complete Instructor training
- Alberta Transportation certified or licensed School Bus Driver Improvement Course (SBDIC) Instructor preferred
- Clear driver's abstract
- Knowledge of federal and provincial regulations
- Minimum 5 years of industry experience
- Previous training experience
- Experience in course creation and presentation
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication skills with a customer service orientation and an ability to work in a professional manner with all levels of the organization
- Ability to thrive in a rapidly changing environment (specifically as it relates to technology)
- Strong leadership and mentoring capability
- Awareness of adult learning principles / techniques
- Excellent observational and assessment skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure adherence to provincial requirements for Class 2 training
- Ensure documentation for licensing is completed to set standards
- Conduct and document required classroom and behindthewheel training for drivers and retraining as needed
- Perform ongoing annual and post collision driver evaluations
- Instruct classroom material and put trainees through various simulator programming on Mobile Training Unit (training provided)
- Create and maintain accurate records of students' progress, including assessments, attendance and incidents
- Keep up to date with changes in traffic laws and regulations to incorporate relevant changes to training
- Work with other company stakeholders to ensure consistent training process for all trainees
