Position Description


Kenora Chiefs Advisory is seeking Three Mental Wellness Workers to deliver culturally safe, trauma-informed clinical crisis intervention to nine (9) First Nation communities in the Treaty #3 territory.

This includes individual/family/group and focused short-term counselling/debriefing in a community-based setting to stabilize crisis situations.

$50,000-60,000 Per Annum


Term:
One Full-time permanent and Two 2 Year Contract

Hours of Work: 80 hours bi-weekly, 7 days a week.


Reports to:
Crisis Response Manager


Summary of Duties
Ø Extensive travel to First Nations Communities to provide debriefing, Counselling, Support/guidance, intervention, crisis intervention and management.

Ø Conduct mental health assessments, risk factors assessment, and stabilization and development of safety plans.

Ø Evaluate the client's progress on a regular basis and adjust interventions as necessary.

Ø Provide and coordinate a holistic, optimal and quality family-focused, community-based clinical and bi-cultural crisis and mental wellness interventions/healing

Ø Follow duty to report requirements as necessary.

Ø Organize and manage the logistics and service delivery of the short-term crisis counselling service.

Ø Provide collaborative discharge planning and aftercare.

Ø Develop individualized care/wellness plans with and for each family and/or client.

Ø Create links to other programs and organizations for referrals, and case management needs.

Ø Ensure accurate documentation of program statistics and activities

Ø Participate in Mental Health and Addictions Team meetings as required.


Ø Travel outside the Treaty 3 territory as required, sometimes for extended periods on short notice, with stays in communities typically lasting five days or more.

Qualifications
Ø A university degree preferably in social work/Psychology or College diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution with extensive clinical experience in the areas of crisis response; critical incidents and trauma

Ø Registration and good standing with a college-approved under the Psychotherapy Act to provide the controlled act of psychotherapy (COTO, OCSWSSW, CRPO, CNO)

Ø Specialized courses in such areas as: crisis intervention, mental health assessment and intervention, suicide intervention, trauma-informed care, grief and loss

Ø Experience in working with those experiencing crisis situations (e.g., suicide, homicide, and other traumatic events)

Ø Excellent clinical assessment and crisis intervention/counselling skills

Ø Excellent written, oral, interpersonal and presentation skills

Ø Excellent computer skills

Ø Knowledge of the Anishinaabe culture and language

Ø Ability to work both independently and as a team member

Ø Applicants should possess a valid driver's license/insurance, and be willing to travel when required

Ø Proof of Covid vaccination is Mandatory
