The Ministry of Children and Family Development provides services that support healthy, safe environments where children are connected to their family and community.

The Financial Services Branch (FSB) works closely with ministry Executive and divisional leads, offering a complete range of financial and management services to support the ministry's strategic direction and lead the ministry's system of financial administration.


Financial and Corporate Support Service Delivery (FCSSD) department within FSB supports Service Deliveries 13 Service Delivery Areas (SDAs), Specialized Intervention & Youth Justice (SIYJ) and CYSN Branch by providing financial advice along with reporting and analysis for budget planning, forecasting, program spending monitoring and commitment management as well as financial training to support SDA staff.

The FCSSD team develops and maintains specialized data sets and reporting systems for contracts, residential resources, program monitoring, specific spending initiatives and completes monthly reporting and year end daily monitoring within Financial Services Branch (FSB).

The Financial Analyst is responsible for preparing and conducting analysis on the monthly forecast and monthly accrual for the Service Delivery Division.

This includes maintaining, updating and reconciling multiple datasets and tracking files as well as contributing to other routine and ad hoc reporting.

The Financial Analyst must possess a strong attention to detail to ensure the accuracy of the forecast.


Job Requirements:


  • A Degree and enrollment in the CPA Professional Education Program (CPA PEP),
    OR degree / diploma in the field of financial management.
  • Experience in conducting and analyzing financial forecasts and expenditures.
  • Experience preparing and monitoring budgets, supporting budget evaluation processes or contributing to the development of financial statements and reports.
  • Experience implementing financial controls and working with financial systems to support procurement/ contract management processes and/or include experience supporting financial risk assessments.
  • Experience providing customer service in a public facing role liaising with clients or other stakeholders to support financial related activities; this may include issues management in a financial environment or providing financial advice in a customer service role.
  • Experience analyzing financial and accounting statements and recommending reallocations.
