Scope
The Bylaw and Licensing Services Division has a regular full-time job opportunity at the Surrey Animal Resource Centre for an Animal Welfare Attendant.
As an Animal Welfare Attendant, you are responsible for providing a high standard of animal welfare and behavioural support for a variety of species.
In addition, you will be assisting in developing, implementing, and supporting training for staff, volunteers and the community. This role requires the building and fostering of professional relationships with both internal and external stack holders.Responsibilities:
Evaluate animals to determine safety for handling requirements, behavioural needs and pathway options
Assist in the development and implementation of animal welfare and enrichment programs
Provide training and ongoing coaching for staff and volunteers
Offer pre and post-adoption consultations for animals needing behaviour and training support
Assist in developing written materials (protocols, spreadsheets, presentations, etc.)
Cultivate and foster partnerships with other organizations for placement and intake options
Perform other related duties as required
Qualifications:
Completion of Grade 12 supplemented with completion of courses in Animal Care
A minimum of two years of related experience in sheltering or working with animals
Strong presentation skills and supervisory experience are an asset
Preferred qualification:
KPA, CPDT-KA, CTC, IAABC Supporting Membership
Valid BC Driver's License with safe driving history
Conditions of Employment
This position requires completion of a Police Information Check.
