Join our team in our mission to continue to put patients and families at the centre of everything we do, in the role of Diet Technician - Nutrition Screening across inpatient units at St.

Joseph's Health Centre. Reporting to the Manager, Collaborative Practice and Education at the St.

Joseph's Health Centre site, the Nutrition Screener will work alongside the interprofessional teams and screen all new patients for malnutrition.

They will work closely with the Registered Dietitian group to identify patients at risk of malnutrition and support patients with additional nutrition based interventions.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Visits inpatients to perform and document nutritional screening and other nutrition based interventions such as nutrition preferences.
  • Collects and records nutritional data
  • Liaises with Unit RDs and supports Malnutrition awareness/education for interprofessional clinical care team, patients, family and volunteers
  • Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Graduate of an accredited Food and Nutrition Management program and/or a four year undergraduate degree in Nutrition
  • Membership with the Canadian Society for Nutrition Management
  • Previous experience in a hospital setting and as a Diet Technician
  • Working knowledge of computer systems
  • Microsoft office, excel, internet and Diet office software (CBORD), electronic patient records (EPR)
  • Proven ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Proven organizational and time management skills
  • Must be able to work Sunday to Thursday
  • Experience as a Diet Technician an asset
  • Excellent attendance record
