The Peel District School Board (PDSB) is a racially, culturally and linguistically diverse board that serves 155,000+ students and approximately 17,000 employees.

In PDSB, 87% of students are racialized, non-white, representing 162 different ethnic backgrounds. Students in Peel have 121 different first languages. Student diversity also exists in terms of gender and gender expression, sexuality and in terms of ability and faith.

The workforce consists of teachers, office staff, custodial staff, education assistants and professional staff. The workforce is largely unionized through PDSB's numerous affiliated bargaining agents._


Casual Designated Early Childhood Educator


Designated Early Childhood Educators work collaboratively with the classroom teacher to plan and implement a full day early learning program within a classroom setting.

Designated Early Childhood Educators work during the school year only.

There will be school shut down periods in December (winter break), March Break and during the summer months when Designated Early Childhood Educators do not work and are not paid.


Designated Early Childhood Educator Qualifications:


  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education
  • Proof of current registration, in "_Good Standing_," with the College of Early Childhood Educators (please upload a copy as an "Additional Document")
  • Knowledge of the Ministry of Education Full-Day Early Learning Program
  • Ability, experience and skill in working as a member of a team
  • Ability to communicate in a sensitive, courteous manner with children, parents / caregivers, staff and the general public
  • Understanding and commitment to confidentiality
  • Basic computer skills awareness of safe food handling practices
  • Related experience in planning and implementing ageappropriate programs is an asset
  • Demonstrated commitment to working in a diverse school community and / or work environment
