As the Associate Chief Medical Officer (ACMO), Medical Staff Workforce Strategies and Quality Management, you will play a key leadership role providing direction and representing Medical Staff Workforce and Quality Management initiatives to the Vice President Quality, Chief Medical Officer, and other senior executives.

Combining clinical experience and a proven track record in healthcare administration at a senior leadership level, you will be able to balance both organizational needs and address key issues regarding workforce strategies and quality and safety initiatives throughout AHS.

The ACMO will work collaboratively with AHS operational leaders to ensure that medical staff workforce strategies and quality improvement initiatives are incorporated into clinical services being provided.

AHS is organized into five geographic Zones.

Description:


The ACMO, Medical Staff Workforce Strategies and Quality Management is a key leadership role responsible and accountable to create and implement a sustainable, systematic approach to AHS physician medical staff workforce strategies and medical practitioner related quality and safety initiatives.

You will spearhead, articulate and promote the vision for medical staff workforce and medical practitioner related quality and safety initiatives within AHS.

You will provide strategic direction, prioritization and lead implementation of quality and safety initiatives in the organization, guiding medical staff engagement and focusing on achieving measurable improvement.

You will oversee and direct medical engagement to support the design, development and implementation of policies, tools and strategies to support workforce forecasting and recruitment strategies and clinical privileging across Alberta.

Reporting to the Vice President Quality & Chief Medical Officer, you will function in a partnership relationship with the Senior Program Officer, Quality & Healthcare Improvement and will provide advice to senior physician leaders such as Senior Medical Directors, Zone Medical Directors, and Zone Medical Leads for Quality.

You will develop/maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, such as AHS Human Resources, AHS Quality & Healthcare Improvement, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta, the University of Calgary, the University of Alberta, Rural Health Professions Action Plan, Accreditation Canada, Health Quality Council of Alberta and the Alberta Medical Association.

You will advise stakeholders and steer engagement and consultation of medical staff in development and implementation of portfolio processes and policies.

Additionally, you may be assigned other responsibilities to support the larger CMO portfolio.

Required Qualifications:


A minimum of eligibility for medical, dental or podiatric licensure in Alberta, including certification by the College of Family Physicians of Canada, the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, the Royal College of Dentists of Canada or an equivalent professional body.

At least 5 years' leadership experience in health care operations including three years' experience in a senior leadership role in clinical services or healthcare operations.
