Cardinal Health Canada is currently seeking a Warehouse Operations Manager to join our Mississauga Distribution Center.


_ What Warehouse Operations contributes to Cardinal Health_
Operations is responsible for materials handling and product distribution in a distribution or manufacturing environment. Includes warehousing and fulfillment of materials and products, transportation, inventory management as well as demand, supply and manufacturing planning.


Warehouse Operations is responsible for performing/controlling a combination of manual or automated tasks necessary for the receipt, storage, and shipment of product.

This may include functions of receiving, picking, packing, shipping, staging, transporting, storage, delivery, etc.

Also responsible for the efficient flow of products from the point of product receipt from vendors to the shipment of products (via prescribed service parameters) to a variety of internal and external customers.


_ Job Summary_


Reporting to the Director, Central Logistics Operations, the Operations Manager is responsible for the planning, directing and coordination of activities related to their team within a fast pace, 24 hour/6 day per week facility.

This role will focus on coaching and developing a team of 2/3 Supervisors and indirectly have responsibility for a team of approximately 60 warehouse employees.

Through team work and collaboration, this role will ensure the achievement of all targets including; safety standards, quality standards, department budget, productivity levels, and customer service levels.

_ Your Contributions to the Organization will be_:

  • Driving continuous improvement methodology throughout the facility to simplify processes and improve efficiency.
  • Managing the department's budget and working on initiatives to reduce costs while maintaining high levels in terms of quality and productivity standards
  • Working in close collaboration with the Inventory Manager and the Supply Chain team to ensure inventory control systems are up to date and inventory levels are accurate.
  • Oversees daily inbound processing operations including receiving, put away, and returns. Ensures operations are in compliance to the business unit's standard operating procedures and implements operational changes cascaded from the Site Director.
  • Directs people management processes for the warehouse, including staffing, training and development, and talent management for 3070 staff. Recognizing the employees' diverse skillsets and levels of experience, provides motivational leadership and champions a culture of high performance, learning, and safety.
  • Responds to disruptions in inbound processing and ensures that customer commitments are fulfilled. Communicates with Sales and Customer Service teams within the business unit to understand customer concerns and makes adjustments to operations and people resources in response.
  • Motivating, organizing and encouraging teamwork within the workforce to ensure productivity targets are met or exceeded
  • Ensuring all Health and Safety rules are met and suggest preventive measures to improve the overall H&S standards of the facility.
  • Monitors performance and productivity metrics and reports on operational outcomes to Site Director.
  • Participating in Supplier / vendor reviews and projects
  • Providing frequent communication and feedback to the team
  • Participating in and on occasion leading crossfunctional projects

_ This Job might be for you if you have:_

  • Warehousing and transportation experience: 5 years (preferred)
  • BA, BS or equivalent experience in operations related field
  • Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt or higher (preferred)

_ What is expected of you and others at this level:_

  • Manages department operations and supervises professional employees, front line supervisors and/or business support staff
  • You are experienced in managing business processes and leading large groups of individuals
  • Expertise in continuous improvement methodologies including Lean Six Sigma, 5s
