The Kativik Regional Government (KRG), a supra municipal body with jurisdiction over the territory
located north of the 55th parallel, is now looking for a self-motivated and dynamic individual interested in
joining the KRG to work in the capacity of:

NUNAVIK PARKS SAFETY TECHNICIAN

  • Under the supervision of the Assistant Director Parks Operations of the Renewable Resources,
  • Environment, Lands and Parks Department, the Nunavik Parks Safety Technician is responsible for the
- implementation of the Parks Safety, Health and Ergonomics Programs.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Develop, promote and deliver public safety and prevention programs to the Parks staff and visitors;
  • Ensure security and emergency preparedness procedures are implemented for employees and

- visitors;
  • Organize or deliver safety trainings for employees (WHMIS, Off road vehicle, Wilderness and remote
  • First aid, White water rafting, Boat safety, Emergency preparedness plan, AVOP, etc.);
  • Inspect, test, and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and practices to ensure they follow
- safety standards and government regulations;
  • Conduct periodic assessments and jobsafety analyses of the workplace to identify the existence of
- hazards and risks to workers;
  • Plan a safety and prevention schedule for all Parks;**
  • Educate Parks workers and visitors about workplace safety;

  • Demonstrate the correct use of safety equipment;

  • Investigate incidents and accidents to identify what caused them and how they might be prevented in

the future;

  • Perform any other related duties as required.**
    Qualifications required:education and experience;_ _
  • Have a minimum of two years related experience in outdoor adventures or parks is an asset;_ _
  • Must possess or an ability to secure their Health & Safety certification;_ _
  • Must possess superior level of computer literacy especially, work processing, spreadsheets,
- presentation software and research engine & tools;
  • Have excellent organizational, analytical, problemsolving, and communications skills (verbal and

- written);
  • Must possess strong presentation skills;
  • Written and oral working knowledge of at least two (2) of the following languages: Inuktitut, English

- and French
  • Ability to travel frequently in Nunavik;
Work experience north of the 55th parallel is a definite asset


Place of work:

Kuujjuaq, Québec

Salary: Minimum of $56 763 to maximum of $97 171 per year
-
Benefits:Cost of living differential: Minimum of $8 500/year

  • Food allowance: Minimum of $3 707/year
  • Annual leave trips: maximum of 3 per person annually
Simplified Pension Plan: 6% employer, 4% employee

Statutory Holidays: 20 days including 10 during Christmas holidays
